Equity

Andrea is a nationally recognized leader on Environmental Justice. She lives in a Black-led community, where she has earned her position as a leader by being humble and listening to the experiences of her community. Andrea will take action to make systemic change to the polices, institutions and attitudes that continue to oppress Black, Brown and immigrant people and communities- and stand in the way of fair and equal opportunity.

Andrea is committed to closing the health outcome gap that affects the Black community- where Black people, especially Black women, do not receive the same level of responsiveness, research or understanding of their medical concerns, and as a result suffer higher maternal mortality, higher infant mortality, higher incidence of preventable illness, lower survival rates for chronic disease, and greater decrease in quality of life than white people seeking similar medical treatment.

We cannot have a real conversation about equity and economic opportunity unless we guarantee the ability to decide if, when, and how to raise a family. Being able to plan when and if to have children has a powerful effect on educational attainment, career trajectory, and chance to define our own destinies. Policies that limit access to abortion and force medically unnecessary procedures are oppressive to women, especially low-income women and women of color. Women have the human right to autonomy over their own bodies, and that includes the right to choose abortion. Andrea will work to ensure women have the tools and opportunities to thrive, and our rights are protected.

Andrea will ensure that equal opportunity is offered to those with disabilities and that LGBTQIA+ people feel safe, especially our youth.

Andrea will always make sure that everyone has a seat at the table.
