Meet Andrea

Community Leader. Public Servant. Mom. Democrat.

As a lifetime public servant, I have focused on bringing resources and positive change to our community. My decision to run for Congress is fueled by the desire to make my home better, for my family and my neighbors.

I will take the fight for our future to Congress- for all of my neighbors in Maryland's 5th District, across Prince George's, Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles and St. Mary's counties.

I grew up in Wilmington, Delaware. My dad worked at SEARS and my mom stayed home with me and my sisters. Thanks to the support and encouragement of my parents, I was the first member of my family to get a college degree.

I am a product of public colleges- my Bachelor's degree in Food and Resources Economics is from the University of Delaware, and I went on to study Law at University of Kentucky and Energy Management and Engineering and New York Institute of Technology.

After law school, I worked as a public defender, in both rural and urban jurisdictions. I went on to work as an attorney, economist and scientist in the US Department of Justice, US Environmental Protection Agency, US Department of Energy and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

I am lifelong volunteer and community organizer, among many roles I have been a Girl Scout leader, secretary of my neighborhood association, community clean-up leader, elected convention delegate, Bernie Victory Captain, co-founder of 2020 Women in Clean Energy for Biden, and have led voter protection and poll observer teams across the country.

I moved to the DMV in 2010, both because the economic crisis of 2008/2009 was making it hard to thrive where I was, and because I was inspired by the work in renewable energy that President Obama's administration was doing and wanted to be a part of it. I quickly fell in love with southern Prince George's County, and in 2014 my husband and I purchased our land in Maryland and started building our farm.

I live in Upper Marlboro, and since 2021 have served as the Director of the Department of the Environment in Prince George's County

I believe a better world is possible. Let's build it together.
